Our daily use of the internet has necessitated the creation of numerous data centers. These generate significant heat and must have a cooling system to prevent overheating, which could damage the systems.
A significant portion of the energy consumption of these data centers is attributed to ventilation systems. It is therefore important to find less energy-intensive ventilation solutions.
Ventilation has several possible functions in a data center:
- Ventilation of computer rooms, air mixing, air handling units (AHUs)
- Extraction of hot air
- Air conditioning
Each of these functions, even if they are complementary, does not have the same requirements in terms of air flow rate and pressure, in particular.
The various ventilation functions in a data center do not have the same constraints. This is why different ventilation solutions will each have their own role to play in ensuring proper operation.
Two ranges of ECOFIT fans are used in data centers:
- ECOFIT axial fans are suitable for high airflow and low pressure applications.
- Centrifugal backward fans can handle greater pressure drops. They are available in a modular design for easy integration into systems.
The electronics integrated into the fans using EC technology enable intelligent control of their rotation speed. Their efficiency is optimized in real time according to requirements, and energy consumption is reduced to the minimum necessary.
