Ventilation Solutions for High-Performance Energy-Efficient Mechanical Ventilation
EC Fan with Constant Airflow
Mechanical Ventilation (MV) ensures healthy indoor air in both public and private buildings. ECOFIT EC (Electronically Commutated) fans equipped with constant airflow control software stand out for their energy efficiency, precision, and adaptability.
What is an EC Fan?
An EC fan uses an electronically commutated motor with a permanent magnet, allowing precise control of speed and airflow. Unlike traditional AC motors, EC fans automatically adjust their operation in real time to maintain constant airflow, even when pressure variations occur within the duct system.
Thanks to integrated software in ECOFIT forward-curved centrifugal fans (single or double inlet), these fans continuously self-regulate according to their environment (for example, in the event of filter clogging). They automatically adjust their speed and airflow to ensure optimal ventilation without wasting energy.
Why Choose an EC Fan for Mechanical Ventilation?
1. Energy Efficiency
EC fans consume less energy than conventional AC motors. Their higher efficiency helps meet European environmental regulatory requirements.
2. Stable Airflow Adapted to Demand
One of the key advantages of EC fans is their ability to maintain constant airflow regardless of environmental conditions. For example, if filters become clogged, the fan slightly increases its speed to compensate for the pressure drop without affecting the airflow rate.
3. Improved Acoustic Comfort
EC fans operate at optimized speeds tailored to actual needs, reducing noise levels.
4. Durability and Simplified Maintenance
EC fans feature speed feedback (tachometric output, and alarm output upon request). Some models send alerts in case of malfunction.
ECOFIT single- and double-inlet forward-curved centrifugal fans can be equipped with integrated software to operate at constant airflow.
The constant airflow function is also available on ECOFIT backward-curved centrifugal fans by adding a control unit (operating with a pressure sensor) and an inlet cone with a pressure tapping point to adjust speed according to ventilation demand.
The type of fan to be selected depends on the installation in which it will operate: system dimensions, duct network length, required airflow volume, etc.
